Overcoming Sleeping Disorders

sleep disorders

Not all of us are blessed with the ability to see a sound sleep. It can be a real pain to go to bed tired at the end of the day and find it hard to put your brain to rest. You may be lying down with your eyes shut for hours, and yet find it too hard to finally lose yourself in your peaceful dream-world. What can be the answer to such misery?

Get Rid Of Your Sleeping Pills

The very first thing to be done is to completely forget your sleeping pills. Such drugs will only weaken your systems and make it impossible for you to sleep without ingesting them.

Daily Time Table

Try to maintain a proper time table for everything you do. Stick to proper meal times like lunch, dinner, breakfast, go to bed at the right hour every day, etc. This is like programming your body to function in the right way every day.

Diet Constraints

Don’t go for a heavy meal before you retire to bed. This makes it tough for you to fall asleep. At the same time, don’t drink any caffeinated drinks or smoke cigarettes before bedtime. This will also keep you awake. If you are really hungry, eat something very light.

Drink enough fluids all through the day. Water can be very helpful in such cases.

Exercises & Meditation

Exercises and workouts can also help tune your body to sleep properly. Try aerobics or yoga. Meditation also helps. Try going for a warm shower before you retire to bed.

Bedroom Environment

Try to ensure that you don’t see any disturbance when you go to sleep. Avoid bright lights, loud music, television, etc when trying to sleep. Use dim lights if you must.

Try Relaxing

Don’t try too hard to go to sleep. Try to relax once you are in bed. Think about the happy and positive things you experienced during the day. Put on some light and soothing music if you want to. You can also try reading a book once you are in the bed.
